Mindfulness – ‘right now’ 2020-06-23T19:19:29+00:00

Mindfulness to me is living in the moment without revisiting the past or thinking about future. One can introspect to identify their own weaknesses, strengths and accept the way you are first. It is important to focus and completely be in the moment and enjoy a specific task or activity that you are performing at that point in time.

There are mainly three aspects of mindfulness – Intention , Attention and Attitude, which helps in building mindfulness with “good feeling” emotions such as joy, relaxation, and happiness. So, how does one start developing or practicing being mindful?

Well for me, Yoga The Popular spiritual technique, prepares the body for mindful meditation. The physical postures in Yoga – the āsanas or Yogāsanas helps body to gain health and mastery over the mind. Yoga is one of the most effective ways to increase blood circulation. Good circulation promotes cell growth, energy, cognitive ability and overall health.

Kumbhakasana(or Planks) is the best yoga method for improving the posture. It strengthens the arms, wrists, shoulders abdominal muscles and spine and helps to build endurance and stamina.

To improve blood circulation, some of the āsanas that can be performed are:

  • Trikonasana: Increases blood flow to the torso by opening the chest and expanding the lungs.
  • AdhoMukhaShvanasana: Great for circulation because your hips are higher than your heart, which facilitates blood flow toward the upper body and brain.
  • Anjaneyasana: Taking the chest forward and upward enables the muscles around the heart to open deeper, creating a better flow of breath or prana.
  • Matsyendra, PrasaritaPadottanasana and UpavisthaKonasana : The variation for spine twist and stretching motion helps in strengthening the lower body as well as opening the hip flexors. The legs get stretched and are rooted on the floor that provides relaxation to the spine and calms the brain.
